Monet asks:

The basic definition of the law of karma is as follows: “For every event that occurs, there will follow another event whose existence was caused by the first, and this second event will be pleasant or unpleasant according as its cause was skillful or unskillful.”

How do you think KARMA affects your life in regards to your personal relationships? Do you think you’ve ever been on the receiving end to something you’ve also done to someone else?

and she/he answers:

I am a firm believer that everything you do and say can come back to you either positively or negatively depending on what you put out there.  If you respect others, they will show you respect.  If you LOVE others, you will receive love in return.  If you treat others in your life SHITTY, best believe the shitty dumpster will find your ass and shit on your parade.
Your destiny is a mirror to the way you are living.

I remember experiencing Karma long ago.  I was talking about my best friend behind her back.  When the same thing happened to me I didn’t fully understand what happened.  My father told me that famous saying WHAT COMES AROUND GOES AROUND.  I’ve always wondered if it is the belief in that statement that makes Karma strong, or the fact that it is just that FACT.

I don’t know what I can say more than my comment in ohans journal whick follows:

This is a very simplistic view of karma. Karma is cause and effect. Every action has an opposite and equal reaction. Which is exactly what the question asks.

However, for me I see karma as the ties that bind me to every person on this planet, and this is part of my dharma (karmic duty to the planet) and there are deeper karmic implications for the individuals that touch my life, both in the negative and in the positive.

With mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, friends and lovers, these are souls I think your deeper karmic connections develop over multiple lifetimes. Somewhere I think I read that no one is new to you under the sun, because souls move together into groups. Mothers were our daughters once, brothers and sisters were once husband and wife, best friends were once wives and so on and so on. In my studies, more than one spiritual philosophy extolls that we as individuals choose these relationships and their configuration at birth, and choose the time and place of meetings and partings in such a way as to provide the maximum opportunity to settle karmic debt and to grow in the process, elevate, come closer to illumination and so on and so on.

Karma is the emotional and spiritual connection you have to population of this planet, and the population of your house, and the population of your sphere of interaction.

So yes, waving people by in traffic is a kind of karmic debt paid, but so is loving the people in your closest range. Making choices based on unconditional love rather than:

f -alse
e -vidence
a -ppearing
r -eal

…..

I like your question today. Nice opportunity for me to learn and share.

A real easy book I found with many of these concepts put down in a digestible way was Predestined Love – Dick Sutphen. He’s also written a number of books I found very interesting and he’s accessible. There are of course a number of other far deeper looks into karma, but Sutphen’s work is an easy way to start. He concentrates on the personal relationships and the karmic ties that bind over multiple lives.

I also wrote down some of my ideas about this here:

Karma and Reincarnation
