I am such a code junkie.
There’s nothing like a heavy dose of code: php, mySQL, HTML, CSS, Javascript, XML…. to just get my intellectual chops salivating.
I’m trying to get Sunhead’s network back up. It’s trying to download sql backups, and files, then re-uploading them to the new server.
I’m getting close to getting Tribelife back online. After that, I need to upgrade, because I am running a Dev release of Mambo, and well it’s working without problems, but it really does need to upgrade, it’s been almost a year without a serious overhaul.
After that I am going to make all the sites tableless to increase download speeds, and to clean up the code and make it valid XHTML.
In addition, I am thinking about relaunching Sunheadmag for real. All this talk about me writing for other sites, makes me realise I have one of those sites.. this crazy dream of mine for Sunhead, that as yet has gone mostly unfulfilled. I miss the energy of my Tribe. They’re the ones who keep sending me emails asking, when is Tribe coming back? When can we restart Sunhead.
Maybe, I’ll never make money from the network, but there’s a love and passion I have for it, that must count for something. I’m happy to pay for it out of pocket for the next twenty years, as long as my Caribbean peeps have a platform to express their ideas.
For me, it’s also an opportunity for me to learn as much as it is to teach.
So here I am, plugging away at the code. I think Tribe will be up before the end of the day. It’s 9.18am this side of the Atlantic.
