My Comments:

1. Closer To Fine – Indigo Girls
One of my all time favourite songs. I sing this in the street as I walk along… It’s got one of the most amazing pieces of two part harmony I’ve heard, and it’s the first Indigo Girls tune I really ever dug.

2. Backtight – Jaheim
I like Jaheim’s voice. This song is so beggy beggy, I like it though.

3. If I Could Build My Whole World Around You/With Tammi Terrell – Marvin Gaye
Classic, classic, classic. Marvin was a wonderful talent, and all his duos with Tammi Terrell were terrific. Full of pop and fire this song was.

4. Untitled (How Does It Feel) – DAngelo
Oh dear… my friends that know me will laugh at me. They know I have been in love lust with Dangelo for going on ten years, and this song in particular has the ability to make me wet and horny in minutes. All the sex I’ve had to this song has been excellent.

5. Independent Woman – Destiny’s Child
All the women, who independent, throw your hands up at me.

6. Still On My Brain – Justin Timberlake
Not one of my favourites from Justified, but I guess it’s good enough for government work.

7. The Place Where You Belong – Shai
One of those beautiful R&B ballads that people just don’t play enough… it qualifies as an oldie goldie now doesn’t it? It’s almost ten years old. I’ve always loved this song.

8. Strange Fire – Indigo Girls
One of the more haunting, incendiary songs off of their first album of the same name. This song has always moved me.

9. Many Men (Wish Death) – 50 Cent
Ha Ha! Considering my spiritual skirmishes of late, this was an apt choice at random.

10. Cry Me A River – Justin Timberlake
I like this song. Timbaland’s production and the songs falsetto delivery are well matched, and it’s a dark song on a deep R&B beat. I love it.

11. Brother To The Night (A Blues For Nina) – Larenz Tate
I want a man to write me a poem like that… this poem is actually the first time I ever heard the names of either Yemaya or Osun.

12. Butterflies (Demo) – Floetry
Love, love, love this song. Love this duo. Love their voices and their poetry. Love it, love it, love it.

13. Easy – Commodores
One of my all time faves. I have always hunted down this song and had a copy within reach. I love a lot of the Commodores music. They’re definitely on my list of favourite bands.

14. Ya Wan Hear Mi Lingo – Jomo Lord
Jomo Lord is my brother. This is one of my favourite songs he has written; this and another song called “Free” and “Mary And The Blue Ballon”… oh good grief… I love my brother’s music. This is a great song.

15. When I Think Of You – Janet Jackson
Ahhh… memories of second form at The Combermere School.

16. The Way You Move – Big Boi Featuring Sleepy Brown
Yeah… I know it’s been played and played and played for months. You know a song is good if it still rocks you four five months later, and it’s been played wherever you go. I never get tired of it.

17. Take It From Here – Justin Timberlake
This is among my favourite JT tunes from Justified. I doubt it will be released as a single, but it’s a great composition, full of strings and guitars. It’s one of the more organic tunes on this CD, very light sounding, yet rich in sound, and the lyrics are touching.

18. Simple Kind Of Life – No Doubt
Kind of like my anthem… I so feel Gwen on this track, and it’s a favourite from this CD, Return of Saturn.

19. I’ve Got To See You Again – Norah Jones
I really like Jones voice, and this is a scorcher. What I find interesting about her sound, is that her voice is melodic rather that powerful, and soothing rather that inciting.

20. Kissing A Fool – George Michael
Ahhh… George will be my boy forever. This song has this classical old jazz sound and phrasing, and George pulls it off so well. He makes a similar and equally successful turn on Cowboys And Angels, from Listen Without Prejudice, Vol. 1 (Where is Vol. 2? I’ve been waiting.) The lyrics on this track are ironic, dreamy and deeply felt by anyone who has fallen in love with someone who didn’t appreciate the gold they had in their hands and threw away. In the abundance of water, a fool is thirsty…. love this track. An all time favourite for sure.

I noticed a very truncated version of this meme making the rounds… a wonder who thought is better truncated and decided, this one was too much work?
