***screaming***

I got my letter of invitation today!!!

My Auntie Gillian sent me the letter, and it is glowing and very specific!! Now all I need is to book my ticket and come up with the TT$438 necessary to apply for this visa.

I’m so excited! I’m so excited!!

I would like to act as sponsor for my very much loved, unofficially adopted daughter, Miss Ndelamiko Lord. I am inviting her to the UK this year to stay at the above address with my family and me. I am willing to finance her should this be necessary, although Della is a self-sufficient young woman, and although I am willing to provide financial assistance, I do not believe this will actually be necessary. She would be resident at the above UK address, although I do anticipate that she will be traveling around the UK during her stay, sometimes with me and sometimes alone, visiting other friends and family.

I have known Ndelamiko for 26 of her 30 years. Her Mother and I are close friends and taught together at Queen’s College Barbados for many years. Dela and her brother Jomo are like my own children and they refer to me as their second Mum.

I am currently living between the UK and Barbados and want to make use of this time to show Dela the land of my birth. I am not sure if she will be permitted to work whilst she is in the UK and if this is not an option, then I am sure she would like to do some volunteer work whilst she is here. She is an extremely talented young woman: an accomplished writer and web-site designer, as you will see from her resume, which I presume she will be sending you. She has a lot to offer and I think that the cross-cultural experience will not only be beneficial to Dela, providing her with a different perspective for her work, but also that it will be beneficial to the people of Wales, to meet this talented young woman from Barbados. Swansea has a wonderful West Indian Carnival for example, and I am sure that Dela will wish to work with the children and help with that. The leader of the carnival is a well known Trinidadian, whom I’m sure Dela will be able to work with on a volunteer basis. The carnival travels around the country, so it will be a wonderful opportunity for Dela to see the country, whilst helping provide a West Indian experience for the people of the UK. The experience will help her with her writing on her return to Trinidad too.

Ndalmiko has integrity, a vivacious personality, is kind and generous, honest to a fault and one for whom I have absolutely no qualms in taking total responsibility for whilst she is in the UK. I do so hope that she will be granted permission to enter the UK for an extended holiday, and possibly permission to work too, if this is an option.

Very nice, glowing letter ain’t it?
